Women Marching Is A Beautiful Thing
Happy Monday to everyone out there. It’s a dreary day here in Philadelphia, which sums up the mood of our country perfectly. Something terrible happened this weekend. Something so deplorable, it has me barely able to function. As I sat there watching the inauguration of our new President Donald J. Trump on Friday, I had no idea what was about to happen. It wasn’t a bad day because we had a new President, no, it was a historic day because Friday marked the end of women’s rights as we knew it. I, for one, couldn’t be more outraged by this atrocity!
How could this happen? Where have I been that I didn’t know that this was even an option? Just a few months ago we had a woman running to become the most powerful person in all of the free world. I thought everything was good on the women’s rights front, and poof, just like that, it’s all over. Apparently, women are pretty much relegated to slave status now. On Saturday a beautiful thing happened. Women Marched! They marched everywhere from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia, to right outside my god damn door step and I loved every minute of it. Such a beautiful turnout. Such a powerful message! If anything is ever going to change, it’s going to start with a solid march. No change has ever occurred without a march. When I tell my three year old he can’t have ice cream for dinner, he marches around my house like a damn lunatic until he finally gets his way. Let me tell you, it works every time.
Let’s take a look at a couple signs from the protests/march this weekend:
Such a beautiful message portrayed in this sign. You really can’t say it much better than “Don’t tread on my pussy”. The real beauty of this sign came from all of the little kids reading it and repeating the word pussy to all of their friends in school today. Very classy move by this woman. Message received!
This one really hits home for me and puts everything into perspective. Apparently since Friday women no longer have the right to vote?!?! What are we back in the fucking stone ages? This must change now! And your damn right women have the right to healthcare, marriage love, privacy, social security and necessities! And about equal pay…it’s crazy to think that under Obama women were compensated in the workplace exactly equal to what men were compensated. Now, under Trump, that all changed. This really chaps my ass.
Here at Philly Reason we absolutely love and respect women. We wouldn’t be who we are today without the women in our lives and I’m making a pledge to all women out there to participate in the fight to get your rights back! Whenever the next march is we’ll be there! We’ll even make a sign. I feel bad about not attending any of the marches on Saturday, but the house wasn’t going to clean itself. So until the next march….
PS: Maybe instead of peaceful protests, we need to take it to the next level and sucker punch everyone that disagrees with our viewpoint. Maybe we should be smashing out windows of businesses, and spit in the faces of our military and police force and light trash cans on fire? Maybe that will get our point across more effectively…
